The Maltese Premier League got back underway at the weekend following the International break.

Floriana vs Valletta was the main talking point after Tal-Irish picked up a vital three points against the league leaders with a 2-0 win.

Current league top scorer, Mario Fontanella failed to get on the scoresheet against his former side with the Reds not finding the back of the net for the first time since December.

Brandon Diego Paiber broke the deadlock for Floriana after 41 minutes, giving the home side the lead going into half-time.

Albanian forward, Kristian Keqi added a second for the Greens in the 90th minute, leaving them in eighth position with 28 points.

Despite the defeat, Valletta remain at the top of the Maltese Premier League with a tally of 50 points from 22 games.

Hibernians closely follow in second place just one point behind the Reds after the same amount of games.

Hibs also failed to pick up three points at the weekend as they drew 1-1 with Mosta in a game which saw them have star man Marcelo Dias sent off in the 42nd minute.
