Malta Under 19 star Andrea Borg is currently on trial with SkyBet League One side Sunderland AFC alongside Chelsea’s Ruben Sammut who is eligible to represent England and Malta at international level, following a number of appearances for Scotland from under-16 to under-21 level.

The Black Cats’ starting 11 included Borg and fellow trialist Summut as they travelled to Aston Villa in a Premier League 2 clash yesterday.

Villa won the match 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming from the penalty spot thanks to Alexander Prosser.

Borg is currently contracted to SkyBet League One side Peterborough United and has recently experienced loan spells at Kettering Town and St Neots Town.

The 19-year-old attacker has made four appearances for the Posh first team during his two-year spell at London Road. Borg had previously spent time in Dubai with the IJF Academy

Sammut has come through the Chelsea youth ranks but is yet to feature in the first team.

The 21-year-old spent the earlier part of the season on loan to Scottish side Falkirk where he made 16 appearances in all competitions.

The Scotland U21 star has already won a number of trophies in his short career including three FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth Leagues.

The midfielder has been on trial at the Stadium of Light since the end of February with a potential move set to go ahead the summer following the expiration of his Chlesea contractthis summer.
