Serbian football manager Danilo Dončić has stepped down from his position as Valletta head coach.
The 49-year-old left the club following their 1-1 draw against Gżira United on Sunday. The result saw the Maltese champions forfeit the top spot to Hibernians.
The former Valletta striker was not on the bench for the match due to health reasons, however, he sent a letter to the Valletta committee to inform them of his decision.
“I can confirm that I have informed the Valletta FC committee that I have decided to step down from my post as Valletta FC coach,” Doncic told the Times of Malta.
“I feel that the team’s results in the last few weeks have been very disappointing and it’s time to move on. I would like to thank the players, coaches and our fans for their support since I took the job at the club and wish Valletta FC every success.”
