Valletta striker Mario Fontanella has won the Replay (Net Television) Premier League Goal of the Month for October. The 29-year-old scored twice and created two goals in Valletta’s 4-1 win over Balzan at the start of last month.
The former A.S.D. Pol. Calcio Budoni forward who signed for the 2017/18 league champions in the summer was also awarded the Bank of Valletta Player of the Month award for October 2018. Fontanella spoke exclusively to MalteseFootball.com at the time saying it was a “great satisfaction” to be rewarded for his hard work.
The former Floriana striker was up against teammate Miguel Alba as well as Hibernians duo Jurgen Degabriele and Joseph Mbong for the October Replay (Net Television) Goal of the Month award, Shunsuke Nakamura of Pieta’ Hotspurs was also nominated.

The former Napoli striker currently tops the BOV Premier League scoring charts with 10 goals, five of which have come against Balzan, Pieta and Mosta.
Speaking about winning the award for October’s Replay (Net Television) Goal of the Month, Fontanella said: “It is a great satisfaction to have won this award, especially after getting player of the month as well.
“I hope to continue my good form and to help give a positive contribution to the team by scoring important goals and getting assists for the rest of the season.”
