Experienced international Andrei Agius has spoken exclusively to ahead of Malta’s European Qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Spain.

Malta are joined in Group F by Spain and Sweden as well as Norway and Romania in their pursuit to qualify for UEFA Euro 2020.

“I am feeling positive as always, I am eager to work hard and earn some points alongside my teammates,” said Agius.

“We are fully focused on our first game against the Faroe Islands and then we will have two days to concentrate on the game against Spain.

“It is good to change the air some times and I believe before the final part of the regular season, it is good to play some international football.”

The defender has 82 Malta caps to his name and has come up against players such as Harry Kane, Ivan Rakitic and Zlatan Ibrahimović in recent years.

Uncapped youngsters Matthew Guillaumier, Karl Micallef and Nikolai Muscat have all been called up to Ray Farrugia’s squad.

Agius finished by discussing how he will offer a helping hand to the new boys in the side: “It is part of our duty, other players did the same thing with me when I was their age, now it is my time to help them as much as I can and I will be there to support them when the sea gets rough.”
